A complete human being is spirit, soul and body. While the other Health Departments are mostly involved in applying physical/body care (fighting against malnutrition, providing cares to pregnant women, fighting epidemics, Aids and sexual diseases...), and soul care through psycho-social assistance;

The Psycho-social Department goes further by taking care of the complete human being in his three dimensions. We provide here, added to the physical and psychological care, moral and spiritual care. These cares are profitable not only to the needy, but also to our staff, making them to be more effective in responding to the various humanitarian tasks and challenges.

The story of global health in the last decades is the story of staggering inequality.

In countries lacking adequate resources, 20 in 1,000 (or 1 in 49) women will die from a maternal cause. In Central Africa Republic, 1 in 17 women will die while giving birth.

In general, global health problems are compounded by lack of access and infrastructure. We know how to solve these problems but have not yet fully gotten those solutions to the most at-risk people. COHEB, through the Right to Health strategy, aims to help those most in need access quality healthcare. This includes 30 million women and girls’ access to reproductive health.

We will accomplish this by:

  • Strengthening local health systems and community-based organizations

  • Supporting at-risk communities, especially adolescents, to exercise their right to health

  • Increasing access to quality health services in humanitarian crisis zones and fragile settings

  • Preparing and responding to public health emergencies by leveraging our long-term relationships with governments, front line health workers, and communities
