Education/Protection

We promote education in nations and communities where normal education programs are difficult to run, working with UNICEF and partner ministries so that children can receive courses that bring them to an equal level of education with children elsewhere in the world. Because learning cannot take root where children are unsafe, our education work stands alongside dedicated protection, human rights and orphan-care programs for the most vulnerable.

Our 2030 goal: 30 million children and young people gain access to quality, safe education, and every vulnerable child we reach is protected from exploitation and neglect.

Our objectives

  • Expand access to quality, inclusive education in crisis-affected communities
  • Train and equip teachers and community education volunteers
  • Protect the rights and safety of vulnerable, displaced and orphaned children
  • Ensure poverty is never a barrier to literacy and a decent life

Programs

  • Community schooling and literacy programs in partnership with UNICEF
  • Teacher training and classroom support in hard-to-reach areas
  • Child protection monitoring and human rights advocacy
  • Care and reintegration support for orphaned and vulnerable children

Departments

Education Department

Education Department

Promotes education in collaboration with UNICEF, in nations and communities where normal education programs are difficult to run, so that children can receive courses that bring them to an equal level of education with children elsewhere in the world. We care about vulnerable children, orphans and widows, so that poverty is not a hindrance to their right to literacy and a decent living.

Advocacy/Human Rights Department

Advocacy/Human Rights Department

Promotes and defends the human and equal rights of the underprivileged — especially women, children, refugees, orphans, and victims of gender-based violence, child trafficking, and discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, religion or political affiliation. Millions of these victims are under oppression around the world; they are vulnerable people who need our corporate intervention to smile again in life.

Crisis Commission Department

Crisis Commission Department

In charge of all crisis situations, research, feasibility studies, evaluation, deployments, emergency rescue missions, aid relief and disaster management — breaking new humanitarian ground in our implementing fields.

Orphanage Department

Orphanage Department

Provides care, protection and holistic support for orphaned and vulnerable children across our countries of operation. We work to place children in safe family-based or community care, ensure access to nutrition, health care and education, and protect them from exploitation, trafficking and neglect. Every child deserves a home, an identity and a future — our orphanage programs are built around dignity, not dependency.

Why this matters

Education is one of the first casualties of crisis — and one of the most powerful tools for recovery. Across Central Africa, conflict, displacement and poverty keep millions of children out of the classroom, widening inequality for a generation.

In collaboration with UNICEF and national ministries of education, we bring courses and learning materials to communities where normal education programs are difficult to run, so children can reach the same standard of education as children anywhere else in the world.

Learning only takes root where children are safe. That is why our Education/Protection sector combines classroom-focused Education programs with dedicated Advocacy/Human Rights, Crisis Commission and Orphanage departments — working side by side with our teachers to defend every child's right to literacy, safety and a decent life.
